Pregnant women do not travel well alone with infants and strollers and carseats and suitcases that ate New York.
But we have safely arrived in Minnesota with all humans and items intact!
Small moments of panic in Toronto as Via rail was late to arrive, then the check in and customs lines were incredibly long, then my gate was at a different terminal. I thought three hours would be lots of time but in the end I arrived at the gate with five minutes to spare. There was some nail-biting on the terminal shuttle but it ended fine and that's the main thing.
Moving through the airport and the lineups with one hand pushing the stroller and another one pulling the suitcase was not something I really enjoyed. The easiest way would be to sort of guide it with my rib cage, but that spot is temporarily occupied by a baby. Among the thousands of people I saw yesterday I didn't see a single other pregnant lady with a young child.
There may have been some bad words once or twice.
However, Bug was A Trouper. She slept for almost the entirety of the train and plane rides both--no gravol needed--and made smiley faces at all the people in the lineups. I was a Harassed Mommy trying to feed her with one hand and fill out the Customs form with the other. It can be done.
I only forgot the luggage once and the boarding passes once, and didn't forget the baby at all, so I'm counting the whole day as a Win. Three days of rest before I get to do it all over again. In severe need of nappage today.
So we are in Minnesota now and Bug is having a blast with her cousins! My brother's house is super nice and pretty baby-proof as he has two small chidren himself. The house is filled with toys and playmates so it's basically Bug Heaven.
I babysat for their youngest one for about an hour today, and between him and Bug I have seen my near future. It is chaos.
